Victim Dies from Stab Wounds

On Thursday, May 6th, 2021, the Fairview Heights Police Department learned that the victim from the April 30th stabbing had died.

Thomas L Turner, 39 years-of-age was being treated at a St. Louis area hospital from a stab wound he received after a fight between he and another roommate, Carlton D. Underwood.  The 48 year-old Underwood was previously charged with three felony-counts, alleging that he ran after Turner with a household butcher knife, when Turner fell to the ground he was stabbed by Underwood in the upper chest.

Several neighbors were outside when the incident occurred on Potomac Drive and witnessed the fight and subsequent stabbing of Turner.

Today, Underwood’s charges were amended by the St. Clair County State’s Attorney to First Degree Murder.  Underwood now has a bond of $1,000,000, and remains in custody at the St. Clair County Jail.
